1. Battery Safety First
- Always use 4 fresh AA batteries of the same brand and age. Mixing old + new leaks.
- Never let a Furby sit with dead batteries. Corrosion starts fast and eats the contacts.
- If a battery ever leaks, stop — don't power it on. See "Corroded Compartment" below.
- Remove batteries if a Furby will be stored more than a month.
2. Cleaning
Fur
- Use a soft toothbrush + mild soapy water. Work gently in the direction of the fur.
- Never fully submerge — water in the electronics is a death sentence.
- For stains, a dab of diluted vinegar or a pet-safe stain wipe, then air dry.
Surface & Face
- Damp cloth only on the plastic face, ears, and beak.
- Resew loose seams with matching thread (I restitch by hand on every rescue).
3. Common Issues & Fixes
Won't turn on? 90% of the time it's the battery compartment. Open it, check for green/white crust (corrosion). If present, see below.
Corroded Battery Compartment
- Remove batteries. Scrape light corrosion with a toothpick (not metal).
- Clean contacts with a cotton swab + white vinegar, then isopropyl alcohol.
- If a contact is eaten through, it needs a solder repair — that's a job for me (see Repair Service).
Motor / Gears Stuck
- Often hardened grease. Gently work the gears by hand; a drop of plastic-safe lubricant can free it.
- If it hums but won't move, the motor may be seized — send it in.
Sensors / Voice Not Responding
- Clean the light sensor (top of head) and tummy sensor with a dry swab.
- Make sure nothing blocks the sensor window.
4. When to Send It to The Furby Queen
If it won't power on after cleaning, has a corroded-through contact, a seized motor, or you just want it properly revived — that's what my Repair Service is for. You ship it, I diagnose, and you get a flat hourly quote before any work begins.

Do you guarantee a Furby will work forever after repair?
No — these are 25+ year old electronics. I restore them as fully as I can and tell you exactly what I found.
Can you fix a Furby that's been in storage for years?
Usually yes, unless the corrosion is too deep. Send photos first.
Do you buy broken Furbys?
